I have this single spark of inspiration; this one strand of a story I want to tell.  I just don’t know how to turn it into something better than a spark.  I want the whole fireworks display.

I used to love to write. Growing up I’d sit and write stories on my own in my room, or plays, or poems – it was always easy to find something to write about.

Some days it feels like there’s too much blocking everything else out in my head, and stopping me being creative.  Sometimes it’s just because I can’t be bothered to sit down and concentrate.

I look at authors like JK Rowling, Suzanne Collins, Helen Fielding, and wonder how they managed to create characters that were identifiable, personable – real people.  How did they manage to turn something they loved doing into something that other people loved too?

I hope that a spark is enough, but I guess there needs to be fuel to light it properly.

My best writing (not that there’s much of it lol) comes from when I’m at my cottage, surrounded by nature and not the loud sirens of the city, people fighting, or general man-made background noise. If you have a space like that (or REALLY good headphones and a good nature sounds website/app), maybe it can help?
