How Do You Find New Books?

Back in December I wrote a list of books I’d like to have read by the end of 2017.

It’s not going very well.

So far, I’ve read:

  • Gone Girl
  • The Book Thief
  • The Lovely Bones
  • And Then There Were None

4 out of 25.  I’ve also read:

  • Dry – Augusten Burroughs
  • Eleanor & Park – Rainbow Rowell
  • Me Before You (re-read)
  • The Sky Is Everywhere – Jandy Nelson

Most of the books I’ve read, or chosen for my list, were from things like Buzzfeed, full of reader compilations and lists like “Books that will change your life” or “books to read before you’re thirty” – and sometimes from reviews from friends.

I always think taking advice from friends on reading is a bit of a tricky one – everyone has such different tastes.

How do you guys go about finding new books to read?

I use my amazon basket as an up-to-date reading list – adding books as I hear about them, and saving them until I’ve money to order them and time to read them. Inspiration comes from friends, and prize shortlists – plus there are some authors I’ll always keep an eye out for. In the end, I always find I’ve too much choice!
