30 Day Disney Challenge – Day 26 – Saddest Death

The one that springs to mind is Ellie from Up, but I’ve used her as the reason Up makes me cry.  Truth be told, I’m not even that big a fan of Up as a film – it’s lovely, but it’s not one I’ll watch again and again.

So my saddest death probably has to be Mufasa.

I remember being very little the first time I saw this (because I was in the sitting room of our old house!) and asking my Dad why Mufasa was frowning, because I didn’t quite understand that he was dead.  I mean, it didn’t upset me that much when Dad explained he was dead, because I didn’t really understand what that meant.

It wasn’t until I was a lot older that I acknowledged this as the saddest death in the Disney catalogue.  I mean, a parent dying/being taken away is a surefire tearjerker for Disney (think about it, Frozen, Dumbo, Bambi), but I never feel like it’s overdone.  And poor little Simba, who thinks it’s his fault and runs away…ooh that Scar is a baddie!

I’m much…much…older and Inremember when Ba,bi’s mother died. But the saddest death of all Gomes when you really lies little bits and pieces of you die when you must endure disappointment. It’s almost like Diseney has, descsdes prepping kids for the one sure thing in life: loss. Kinda sad.
