Let’s have a giggle right now – you’re legally an adult. I’ll let you in on a little secret though – no one feels like one.
Uni soon, huh? About a month to go. That’s scary. You’re right though when you think nothing will be the same. It won’t. But here’s something else – it’ll be better.
It’s not going to be easy – you and the boyfriend are going to fall apart, and letting go will be the hardest thing you’ve done so far. You’ve fought for it, you put in so much effort, but that doesn’t mean it’s right for the rest of your life. There is no shame in a break up – just try and be classy about it.
You’re going to meet some great people – your greatest friends in the world. You’re going to fall in love (with two different people, you saucy minx). Neither are right for you, and both will cause you a lot of heartache. But that’s what growing up is for. Just remember to breathe.
You could put a bit more work in at uni, but to be honest no one cares about first year. It’s worth 10% and you hate the creative writing seminar anyway. Don’t stress about it.
However, uni won’t be what you expected. You’re not going to go clubbing every night, because your anxiety is going to be through the roof. In fact, you’re going to finally accept that it exists. You’re not quite ready to do something about it, but you know you’re going to need to. Instead clubbing, you’ll spend a fair time in pubs with those aforementioned friends, building your tolerance as well as friendships.
Again, be nicer to your mum and dad.
